Sheep
A passive source of wool and lamb. Naturally spawned Sheep have 90% White, 5% Gray, 3% Brown and 2% Black fleece; no exotic natural colors. Right-click with Shears to collect 1–3 matching Wool without damage, spending one durability. Fleece regrows after 10 minutes while the sheep stays active. Sheared sheep yield no fleece on death; unsheared sheep always drop 1–2 matching-color Wool. Desert has no sheep; Swamp sheep are very sparse. These are transient animals, not persistent livestock. See Dyes & Colors.
Habitat and occurrence
Section titled “Habitat and occurrence”Creature species compete for the existing local spawn budget; this is not a global percentage or a guaranteed encounter. Protected new-player and cave-passage safety areas remain clear.
Naturally found on suitable Plains and Forest ground. In Swamp, ordinary passive spawning uses a 12% seeded chunk eligibility threshold within the same local budget. Eligibility stays fixed for each chunk, so repeated spawn ticks do not gradually refill every Swamp chunk with ordinary animals. Actual populations vary with activity and movement; this is not a guaranteed population percentage. It does not naturally spawn in Desert. Animals can still walk, be pushed or be transported across a biome boundary; these rules do not despawn them.
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Behavior | passive |
| Maximum health | 8 |
| Base direct damage | 0 |
| Item | Quantity range | Catalog rule |
|---|---|---|
| White Wool | 1–2 | 100% loot roll |
| Raw lamb | 0–2 | 75% loot roll |
A range starting at zero can produce nothing. A listed probability is the actual loot roll, not a biome spawn rate or a guaranteed quantity.
Loot is rolled once through the normal authoritative death/drop flow. Drops and carried equipment use the existing save, inventory and storage systems. Natural mobs remain transient and do not become permanent saved world entities.
