Survival, Death & Hazards

Health is your remaining life; hunger falls as you survive and travel. Taking damage briefly pulses a subtle red screen edge, including environmental damage and starvation. At three remaining hunger symbols (6 of 20 points) or fewer, the hunger bar gives a gentle periodic shiver; eating above that threshold stops it. Reduced-motion preferences disable the shiver. Use food before hunger runs out. Some foods damage health, so inspect their item stats.

Death drops all carried inventory and equipped armor at your body. The death panel names the cause and waits for Respawn; reconnecting does not bypass death. Respawn returns you to a valid bed or safe starting location with empty carried slots. Go back to collect the dropped items. All ground loot, including items dropped after death, disappears after 10 minutes. The deadline survives server restarts and also applies outside active areas; other living players can collect the loot before it expires. Items inside an inventory, chest or station are not ground loot. Avoid waiting in danger after recovering.

Shallow water slows movement. Deep-water swimming consumes oxygen; the bubbles appear above health. When air is gone, periodic drowning damage begins. Reach land or leave deep water to recover air gradually. A valid boat passenger does not spend breath. Mobs can drown too.

Lava is passable but slows and ignites players and mobs. Damage is periodic, and burning continues briefly after leaving. Enter water to extinguish it immediately. Claims do not protect you from hazards. Boats do not become lava vehicles, and fire does not spread through or destroy buildings.

Night is darker and hostile encounters are more dangerous. Place a Torch or Lantern, or hold a selected torch to carry a moving light. Campfires and furnaces provide light only while burning. Light helps you see; do not assume it grants invulnerability or prevents every spawn.

Setting Default
Movement speed 0.5×
Damage per pulse 2 HP
Pulse interval 1 s
Afterburn 4 s of active simulation

These values come from the server’s public default configuration. A realm operator can override them. Disconnecting does not erase a saved burn, and lava does not restore oxygen.
