Chicken

A small passive animal. It wanders, pauses and pecks, and flees briefly when attacked. Living chickens occasionally lay an egg on safe nearby ground; killing one does not produce eggs.

Plains · Forest · Swamp.

Creature species compete for the existing local spawn budget; this is not a global percentage or a guaranteed encounter. Protected new-player and cave-passage safety areas remain clear.

Naturally found on suitable Plains and Forest ground. In Swamp, ordinary passive spawning uses a 12% seeded chunk eligibility threshold within the same local budget. Eligibility stays fixed for each chunk, so repeated spawn ticks do not gradually refill every Swamp chunk with ordinary animals. Actual populations vary with activity and movement; this is not a guaranteed population percentage. It does not naturally spawn in Desert. Animals can still walk, be pushed or be transported across a biome boundary; these rules do not despawn them.

The default egg-laying interval is 5–10 minutes of active simulation; a server can configure it. A schedule produces at most one pending egg and respects nearby egg limits.

Property Value
Behavior passive
Maximum health 4
Base direct damage 0
Item Quantity range Catalog rule
Feather 0–2 75% loot roll
Raw chicken 0–2 Every successful loot roll

A range starting at zero can produce nothing. A listed probability is the actual loot roll, not a biome spawn rate or a guaranteed quantity.

Loot is rolled once through the normal authoritative death/drop flow. Drops and carried equipment use the existing save, inventory and storage systems. Natural mobs remain transient and do not become permanent saved world entities.
